THE ARABIAN DESERT by QUIM BOVÈ

Book f27 takes a deep look into the life and the art of Quim Bové; the founder of the conceptual art group Andorran Currency; Quim will be displaying as of June his eight unique artworks inspired by the Arabian Desert and specially commissioned for the Opera Gallery Dubai in DIFC.

Born in Catalonia, the artist remembers drawing and painting at the tender age of 6, he taught himself the use of different materials and colors and carefully studied the works of Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, and Joan Miró.

Quim was also involved in the student art scene in Catalonia and attended the experimental Art school Xaloc renowned for its liberal take on Arts.

Bové is an artist that is highly moved by deserts, he is able to transcribe the energy they produce into art which is why he moved to Arizona to be closer to the Sonoran Desert and it’s also the reason why he was inspired by the Liwa Desert in the UAE upon a visit and stayed in the region in order to complete his pieces.

Quim creates explosions of colors in his bold abstract paintings and he uses the energy of the universe and his connection to it to input a sense of symbolism to his piece; Executed with dynamic brush strokes and refined layering techniques that create a two-dimensional effect in his paintings.
