The story is one we have all experienced; Rebecca Hessel wanted to get married and needed bridesmaid dresses, alas she couldn’t find any that she liked and she decided to create her own. That’s where the story should have ended but Rebecca discovered a passion within her and decided to pursue it. Leaving her job as fashion editor at Cosmopolitan she set up her new brand and named it LoveShackFancy.
The name LoveShackFancy originates from three of the dress styles: The Love style that is meant to be worn from day to night with shoes as optional, the Fancy style that is meant for special occasions, and the Shack style is a sheer silk chiffon piece that is added to complete any look. Her main goal is and always will be to create clothing inspired by her very own ethereal summer wedding and thus her initial collection of hand-dyed silk dresses allowed its clients to dream of escapes and special moments as the pieces revolve around eternal summer and add a bohemian feel with hints of structured Zimmerman style.
The pieces later evolved from dresses to tops, skirts, jumpers, scarves and even bathing suits but the most recent addition that drove her fans crazy was the Little Girls line that allowed mothers and daughters to twirl around in dreamy vintage looking and whimsical dresses.
Rebecca has always collected and been inspired by vintage clothing and antiques, which infuses her designs. Ranging from French countryside eyelet to the creamy shades of Swedish cottages to Victorian-inspired lace, the brand offers versatile pieces that evoke an imperfect elegance and old-world eclecticism.
LoveShackFancy will continue to attract attention as long as Hessel stays true to her vision of ” dancing barefoot in the garden under the moonlit summer night”.
