Internet Artist: Roeqiya Fris

This month Book f27 focuses on the Dutch –Egyptian artist Roeqiya Fris or Roeqie, as she’s known as on the Internet.

The illustrator who graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy of Visual Arts in 2005 is currently based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands where she has also worked as a fine art teacher, ran a creative workshop company called Fris Projecten for 6 years and started to focus on creating her own beautiful works 2 years ago.Her work focuses on feminine beauty, Arab culture, mysticism, nature, and fashion as inspiration for her visual brilliance, with repeating motifs of women, botanicals, and shapes in all of her artworks.

Her illustrations are magical and colourful sceneries full of deep hues of radiant pink, joyful orange and warm yellow with dashes of blue, purple and green to create the fine prints in which she dresses her women (we want them in real life).

Roeqiya has years of experience and is living life at its fullest, displaying and selling her canvas works on her Etsy shop and promoting it on social media; who knows, maybe she will be picked up by a household name as her artistic flair sure is unique.
