From world-class hotels to award-winning restaurants and galleries, the Middle East always stretches its limits to bring us internationally acclaimed wonders and the Louvre Abu Dhabi is the latest addition.
Designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, the museum is a work of art in itself. It boasts jaw-dropping interiors that are housed in a signature dome of geometric lattices that overlap, creating an awe-inspiring sight. Once inside, brace yourselves as you get up close and personal with hundreds of beautiful pieces of art that have been hand selected from across the world. From sculptors by Auguste Rodin to art by Italian artist Giuseppe Penone along with Ai Weiwei, the museum is as diverse as it is beautiful. The project has been in development for over a decade but finally opened its doors in November to an elite crowd including French President Emmanuel Macron, Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, and has since welcomed a flock of the regions art aficionados.
