Queen of pop Britney Spears isn’t new to the fragrance world but she has just debuted her very first gender-neutral scent, Prerogative. “Created for the woman or man who defies inhibitions and societal limitations, this unique scent fuels the confidence and determination to be whoever you want to be,” reads the brand’s statement. The perfume borrows the title of one of her previous hits and is sure to elevate her already stellar repertoire.
It’s heady, oriental and woody and opens up with notes of pink pepper, red goji berries and apricot nectar before lily, latex petals and espresso foam take over to create a seductive scent. The base accords consist of sandal, amber wood, and saffron cream. It sounds almost overly intoxicating but somehow it works which is hardly a surprise. Spears is an olfactory mastermind and is by far the most successful celebrity perfumer, selling well over $1.5 billion perfumes since her first launch, Curious, back in 2004.
