We were seduced by this oasis where colors used by Matise were mixed with those of nature.
This is how the love story with Marrakech started for Yves Saint Laurent, one of the fashion’s greatest designers, and his lifelong partner Pier Bergé.
We all know for Le Jardin Majorelle and Rue Yves Saint Laurent in Marrakech, Morocco, but this fall the North African city will be a home of a one more beautiful space in honor of the French designer. In September 2017 a museum dedicated to Yves Saint Laurent is set to open its door for public. This will be the second museum dedicated to the designer after the one in Paris. The museum will include a ballroom, library and a large exhibition of the Yves’ creations.
The museum will be home for a more than five thousand couture outfits, fifteen thousand accessories and an extensive collection of sketches, drawings, photographs, and books the designer collected during his career.
The Yves Saint Laurent museum is designed by the Parisian architecture company Studio Ka and costs almost sixteen million dollars. The museum is built in style inspired by the fashion designer’s work – modern and simple but traditional and close to the roots. The materials used can be found in the area – Moroccan stone, marble, terracotta, and concrete. The bricks on the walls are set in a way that reminds some of the fabrics used by the French designer at the beginning of his career.
The Yves Saint Laurent museum will be open in September 2017.
